Greenburgh Property Tax Assessment Rolls

The Greenburgh Assessment Rolls page has rolls from 2010 to the present. The tentative assessment roll becomes available to the public by June 1 each year. After that, the Board of Assessment Review (BAR) can make changes through the initial appeals process. The BAR has until September 15 to make final determinations, at which point the roll becomes final.

Final assessment rolls are a snapshot of data as of September 15. Changes from small claims proceedings that happen after that date are not reflected in the published roll. If you have questions about a recent assessment, call the Assessor's Office at 914-989-1520. Both current and prior year rolls are available online, and the town keeps an archive of past years.

The assessor's office handles GIS mapping, abutter's notices, assessment rolls, and various exemptions. You can view the town's GIS map at axisgis.com/greenburghny. This system shows parcel lines, property data, and zoning info on an interactive map.

Bank Pay online services are a problem area. They do not carry a US postmark, so a late payment through bank pay will be charged a penalty even if you scheduled it on time. The town cannot waive that. Also, liens cannot be paid online. Contact the Tax Office directly if you need to clear a lien.

Note: Villages within Greenburgh have their own due dates, so contact the relevant Village Hall for those deadlines.

Greenburgh Property Tax Exemptions

The Assessor's Office administers several exemption programs. Wholly exempt purposes, veterans exemptions, business improvement exemptions, aged exemptions, disability exemptions, and existing STAR exemptions all go through this office. The annual grievance period gives property owners a formal chance to contest their assessments.

Greenburgh has also pushed for special legislation on climate-related property tax relief. The town initiated a statewide law that gives assessment relief to properties that lose more than 50% of their value due to flooding or other disasters. To apply, you need to submit documentation within 90 days of the disaster. Acceptable proof includes FEMA determinations, insurance adjuster reports, private appraisals, and Small Business Administration loss verifications. A notarized affidavit is required. The maximum benefit covers four tax years following the impacted roll.
